Gefitinib hydrochloride selectively inhibits EGF-stimulated tumor cell growth IC50 of 54 nM and that blocks EGF-stimulated EGFR autophosphorylation in tumor cells. Gefitinib hydrochloride also induces autophagy. Gefitinib hydrochloride has antitumour activity.
