Description

Dey-Engley Neutralizing Agar is essential for accurate disinfectant testing. It is a special type of growth medium used to accurately test how well disinfectants kill bacteria. It helps differentiate between disinfectants that simply inhibit bacterial growth (bacteriostatic) and those that actually kill bacteria (bactericidal). This agar contains special ingredients that neutralize a wide range of common disinfectants, including those based on quaternary ammonium compounds, phenolics, iodine, chlorine, mercury, formaldehyde, and glutaraldehyde. By neutralizing these disinfectants, the agar allows for a more accurate assessment of their effectiveness. Furthermore, the agar is gamma-irradiated to ensure it’s free from any bacteria that could interfere with the test results.
